Jared got the last of his indoor projects finished over the Christmas holiday. He finished our mudroom!

This area was meant to be a closet but we figured we'd get more use out of it being a mudroom

We took Emmett bowling for his first time. It was kind of hard but we had fun. First we tried this mini bowling area and he liked to kick the ball.

Next We did regular bowling which he liked but he didn't like waiting his turn which made for a lot of tantrum throwing. It didn't help that it was 90 degrees in there.

Jared turned 31 on December 31. We had a small but fun party and here are the guests minus Becky who is taking the picture.

I have been enjoying taking pictures of my little man with my new camera. He's pretty good at looking cute.

This buddy has been into everything! Nothing is safe in this house.

He found out he can reach the water in the bathroom.

He has discovered he can reach a lot more if he just pushes the chair over by it.

We had some warm days to play outside and tip some tractors.

I can't get enough of his cute face. He has the biggest grin whenever he sees me and it makes me so happy.

He has had a little bit of a cold but his Doctor said he looked great at his wellness visit!

We still haven't gotten him to take a bottle but I haven't really tried very hard either. He likes to hold his poop in and let it all out at once which makes for A LOT of blowouts. In fact in these pics he's wearing his 2nd outfit for the day........and he ended up pooping on it too. Not fun. I should just be happy he isn't constipated.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

These are backwards so we will start with Christmas Day.

My parents came to spend Christmas with us and it was a lot of fun! Jared went to our 45 min. sacrament meeting then we opened presents when he got home.

Here is Gampa (Grandma) giving Emmett his most favorite present, a John Deere tractor flashlight.

Of course the tractor is always tipped.

We had shrimp fondue, steak, and fruit with chocolate fondue for dinner Christmas Eve. Emmett just had chocolate for dinner.

Christmas Eve

Santa jammies! It says "What Santa doesn't bring me, Grandma will." Very true.
Notice where "McQueen car" is hiding and also the upside down phone by the TV. He tips all of his toys upside down.

Eli's jammies say "I'm all mommy wants" Also Very True. His very first Christmas ornament is sitting on his leg.

Christmas was a lot of fun and I think this will be our last year we can talk freely about Santa.

Eli was blessed on November 6 at church. He didn't cry until the very end and Jared did a wonderful job. I am so mad that I didn't get a picture of us on his special day but it was enjoyable and nice to have our families there to share it with us. My friend came and took these of him in his blessing outfit before he grew out of it.

Here he is at 3 months old. He spends a lot of time in his comfy jammies and wears mitts a lot but I'm starting to not put them on because he just sucks on his fingers which makes the mitts soaking wet. I like to have his picture with this monkey each month to compare how much he has grown in a month. He has always been super smiley and so much fun for us!

Morris Family Christmas Party 2011

Every year Jared's mom has a Christmas party where we make graham cracker houses, santa delivers a present to everyone, and we eat and open gifts. It was a lot of fun!

Emmett and London at the kids' table drinking something yummy and not eating any dinner.

This year Emmett just wanted to eat the candy off the houses and didn't quite understand it was just for decoration. Maybe next year.

These two are nine months apart and they love each other. They are so fun to watch.

Halloween

I almost spent this Halloween alone but thankfully ended up with a full house. Jared's training was canceled so he was able to come home the same day he left. Getting a treat from Grandma Morris's trunk.

Jared decided to plan a party for Emmett the morning of his birthday. He got mater and a tractor from Cars. He is always tipping tractors over just like on the movie.

He didn't really like us singing to him and was mad because I wouldn't let him take the backhoe off his cake.

The next day we took him to a pumpkin patch and they had these cute little goats he loved to pet.

He was in tractor heaven!

Future farmer. He got a tractor/truck movie for his birthday and he loves it. I even like it and I notice all the different types of tractors and dump trucks around.

He picked up all the bumpy pumpkins and put them in the wheelbarrow. We would take them out when he wasn't looking.

Hard to believe it has already been 2 years since this cute face joined our family. He has a lot of personality and shares it with everyone! When he's happy, he's super happy and when he's mad...watch out! He LOVES cars, trucks, backhoes, trains, and tractors. He has been obsessed with McQueen for quite awhile and has watched the movie MANY times. He also loves Toy Story. He loves animals, especially my cat fluffers. He also loves his "bink" and "blankie." Someday soon we will be saying good bye to the bink. He has known his shapes for a long time and has learned the sounds of all the letters in the alphabet. We are still working on colors. He can count to ten sometimes when stacking blocks. It's so cute.

Baby Eli

Eli Ryan Morris decided to come earlier than we expected (except for Andrea who guessed it perfectly) and it made for a crazy trip to the hospital. I woke up around 3 am with a fairly painful contraction and continued to be woken up by contractions. Finally at 5 something I let Jared know I had been in pain for awhile. We both got up about 6 and I got in the shower thinking it would help. Just a few days earlier my Dr. had said there was no way I was going to have this baby early and that he would see me next week at my appt. I believed him and kept expecting my contractions to just stop but by 7:30 they were coming quick and painful! We got in the car and were so lucky that my mom had been staying with us that week and was able to be here to help with Emmett! As we were driving I looked up the # to the hospital to give them a heads up we were coming. The line of cars to get on the freeway was soooo long and I thought I was going to die......or that Jared was going to be delivering a baby pretty soon. Jared was able to live his fantasy of driving frantically to the hospital and we ran through 2 red lights. When we got there he ran in to grab a wheelchair and the kind nurses were ready and quick to get me in the admission room then attempted to get an IV started. I was dilated to a 7 and 100% efaced. They finally stuck it in my arm then I was able to get the epidural....FINALLY. After that was in they had me laying on my left side so that side went completely numb including my face which was droopy but Jared kept telling me it wasn't. Then I got wheeled into what they said was the best room there and it was pretty great. I met Dr. Baxter who would be delivering and once the respiratory therapist got there I pushed for 2 contractions and we met our baby boy.

It was a pretty crazy experience and we feel so lucky everything went well and we got a healthy baby boy! All I have to say is Thank goodness for epidurals!!

Most of his hair is on the back and is brown and the rest of his hair looks blonde in the light so I'm not sure what color his hair really is.

We decided he doesn't look a whole lot like Emmett did when he was born and Jared really thinks his eyes are going to be blue but I think they have a good chance of being brown.

It's funny to see that he has a binky in because he doesn't really take one anymore. Sometimes we force one on him but now that Emmett is so addicted to his I'm kind of glad Eli won't take one.

Zoe, Wyatt, & London

This is the outfit we brought Emmett home in.

Emmett is not good at sharing but he does like to share his favorite blanket with Eli and is always putting it on him or by him. I hope this continues. So far he has been such a good big brother and seems to like "baby." He always points out his eyes and nose to us and softly strokes his head. When Eli cries Emmett will bring us his binky (which he doesn't like) Emmett also thinks his fingers are funny and will touch them and laugh.

Oh the fun times we have to look forward to!

2 Weeks left and stretched to the max. An actual quote from Jared today, "I wish people would say nice things about my belly like they do yours." The way he said it I'm certain he was not kidding.

I'm excited for Emmett to become a big brother. He loves babies and the other day I caught him putting floppy on a "changing table" and wiping him.

Only 2 weeks left which is hard to believe but at the same time, thank goodness!

Emmett and I were able to make it to the Wuthrich family reunion in Emigration canyon. He found this dump truck right off and had it the entire time.

My cousin Trevor and Emmett were best buds.

We went to the Fair Parade in M town and had so much candy thrown at us with only 3 kids to gather it.

A week in Park City

This year the annual Carlsen vacation was in Park City. We figured Emmett was close enough to being two to experience the alpine slide. Jared said he liked it and kept saying "weee."

Here are all the cousins on the Carlsen side which will soon grow by one more boy. Maybe someday Megs will get a girl cousin.

We spent some time playing at the park. Emmett loves the slides! In order to get there we had to carry the strollers down a lot of stairs and up again on the way back.

There was a nice shallow part in the pool where Emmett liked to play but mostly he wanted to be in the hot tub.

Casey, Mel, and I took the boys to Cars 2. I knew Emmett wouldn't sit too long but the whole front of the theater was empty so when he needed a break he ran back & forth down by the screen. When it first started he kept yelling "McQueen!"

This was my first time to the Olympic park. It was neat watching them land in the pool with skis on.

You can barely see but a skiier is in the air.

I looked over at Charlie and this is how he was. So cute.

Emmett's first time to a splash pad. He wasn't too excited about it but at least it was free. He was more interested in his tractor

I wasn't going to worry about having Emmett experience this ride but he ended up loving it and bawled when it was over. When Wy would make the airplane go up E would put his hand in the air and say "weeeee." One of the boss guys came over when it was over and told us he could go again for free!

So brave all by himself.

As soon as we got home Emmett was back in our dirt yard and played there until dark.

One of the many pieces of trash left by construction workers became a fun toy for him.

I'm bummed we didn't get a picture of our awesome tye dye shirts we made.

4th of July

We started our celebration the evening before at the annual Carlsen weinie roast. I'm glad Emmett was able to do this at my grandma and grandpa's before their house sells.

I was trying to get a picture of him eating the s'more and he decided to say cheese so I got this goofy looking face that I love.

Emmett loved this big dog.

This year instead of having the chuck wagon breakfast on my grandparents big lawn they had bounce toys/slides. Emmett was nervous but all in all I think he loved it.

Even Jared was able to enjoy it.

Here we're watching the beginning of the parade with the BL rangers on horses carrying the flags. I put Emmett's hand on his heart and he kept it there a long time.

We made it to the lake a few times. This time was a short trip because it got really windy!

After the beach we decided to go to Minnetonka Cave. Emmett kept saying "wow" and didn't like stopping so Jared went ahead of our tour guide with Emmett and did a quick tour of it.

It was a fun week!

Rexburg!

Jared had another long week away so my nice sister came all the way to Orem and got me and E to spend the week with them.

Megan was gone to girl's camp at first but was soon home sharing her treats with Emmett.

E had fun with Austen and was able to enjoy snack time with him (cookies dipped in milk)

This boy's obesession with tractors grew after this visit.

One night we had s'mores. Sometimes he'll catch me taking a picture and bend down to say cheese.

I saw that Brooke White was doing a free concert so we decided to check it out and while we were eating at Gator Jack's she came in to sign posters.

Brooke was a contestant on American Idol the same season as David Archuleta for those of you who are thinking "Brooke who?"

Fun with friends

In June we had a fun BBQ and swim with friends.

Jared and Ryan were trying hard to have Luke and Emmett give each other a five. When one boy would cooperate, the other wouldn't so it was funny watching them try.

All the nice dads swimming with the kids so the moms don't have to.

Father's Day

Last night Jared left to take a 10 pm flight to LAX, have a 2 hour layover, fly to Memphis, then leave to Columbus. We're sad he's not here to celebrate with but here's something I found that I thought was pretty fitting.

REASONS TO CELEBRATE DAD

1 Someone needs to deal with the "some assembly reequired" stuff.

2 Who else would dare face that black fuzzy spider under the basement stairs?

3 His shaving cream comes in handy for rainy-day crafts.

4 He has an amazing ability to cheer up a cranky child merely by tossing him in the air.

5 He's happy to discuss the finer points of old Road Runner and Coyote cartoons with the kiddos.

6 No one else ever seems to know exactly where the bicycle-tire pump is.

7 He insists that you look even better than you did before you had kids. (And if he's lying, he does it really, really well.)

8 Amazingly, macho man though he is, he doesn't mind having his nails painted bright pink by an enthusiastic pre-school manicurist.

9 He doesn't make fun of you when you do yoga in the living room. Well, most of the time.

10 Fatherhood looks sexier on him than you could have imagined.

Today I talked Jared into going to see what Orem's Summerfest is all about. It was super hot and not very exciting. We did get to experience a few firsts with Emmett which made it worth it though.

We got to sit in an airmed helicopter. He didn't quite understand what it was since it wasn't in the air and it wasn't making any noise.

Next he sat in a fire engine which is a lot bigger on the inside than I had imagined. He loved it.

When he's in the driver's seat he likes you to close the door and kept pointing at it so Jared would close it. Then he tried pushing all the buttons surrounding him that don't show up in this picture so it was time to get out.

Even the outside of the truck is a little boy's heaven.

Next we found some Army jeeps!

To cool down afterward we had him play in the sprinkler.

We started getting the pool ready so the hose is in it swirling around in the water and every once in awhile pops up and sprays out of the water so here are the boys waiting for that to happen. When it does Emmett says "you see?"

To end the day Jared and I were making dinner and when Emmett goes in the family room and is silent for awhile I usually find him doing this.

When his G-ma helps him play with her i-touch she needs her glasses to see it so he thinks he needs them as well. He always has them around his neck. It makes me laugh every time.

That was our fun filled Saturday.

Memorial Day 2011

We spent the weekend in rainy Paris since Jared had Memorial Day and the following day off!

Here's Emmett at my Aunt's grave.

On our way home we stopped at LaBeau's and ate dinner and shared a Raspberry shake.

Emmett doesn't like fries but he discovered he could dip it in the shake.

Then lick off the ice cream.

(pictures are out of order) Before LaBeau's we stopped at the Paris cemetery to visit Grandpa & Grandma Carlsen's grave. It makes me so sad to think he won't know them growing up.

Birthday dinner with cousins. He climbed up there all by himself to sit by them which I thought was cute and also that they all have their pj's on.

Springtime!

We are getting anxious to be in our new home which will possibly be finished the end of this month. We go out there so much I think it is already a familiar place to Emmett. He especially loves the unfinished basement to run around in.

Once it finally warmed up we decided to head north to the cold windy 'burg. We couldn't miss out on Megan turning 13!

My pictures are blurry for some reason.

Emmett was so sleepy but we had to keep him up so he could sleep on the way to Jackson.

We went swimming at the aquatic center in Jackson and Emmett got to go down the mini waterslide with his daddy. He was always scared at first but at the end he would smile. I think he had mixed emotions about it.
Jared even took him down the bigger waterslide but I didn't have the camera. bummer

Hanging out with Austen. He was mad that I was holding onto him. He thinks he is so big.

We love Jackson and it was nice to not have it so crowded but it was sooo cold.

First time on the trampoline this year. He loved it until he almost fell off. Maybe he'll learn to stay in the middle now.

Can't wait for the next adventure in Paris and hopefully it will be nice and warm.

I cannot believe my baby is 1 1/2 already! He has such a fun personality and we love him more each day.

Yesterday was his first day in nursery and I think he did pretty good for his first time. They came and got me because he didn't want to stop playing with the toys so they could have snack time but what do you expect from an 18 month old.

He has learned to fold his arms and sometimes I'll look over at him to find him doing it for no reason except to be cute.

I think it's cute to see him pretend to be talking on the phone. Sometimes he'll say hello when he puts it to his ear.

For his big day, after we went to see the progress on the house, we stopped in Lehi at this restaurant and Emmett got his picture taken to be hung on the wall! They have a wide selection of things to eat and we will definitely be going back.

(This will be our new place to take visitors rather than the nasty Family Tree :)

Another perk was we got all this food for FREE for bringing in an Emmett!!

Their scones are DELICIOUS!!!

At his appt. he likes to play in this playhouse. If other kids are playing in there he gets excited and starts yelling jibberish. I love it.

He loved the mailbox of course since it opens and closes.

HE LOVES DIRT! I guess that comes with being a boy. He doesn't try to eat it as often which has been wonderful!

Easter 2011

On warm days we would hide eggs in the yard so Emmett could practice looking for them. He was really good at it and had a lot of fun.

The big Easter party was Saturday so I dyed some eggs for him to put stickers on before everyone came.

He and London had their own egg hunt in the front yard. His eggs were green.

He's quite happy with his stash. His prizes from the eggs were books, & dollar bills.

This year he loves loud things like trucks, airplanes, and the lawnmower so that helped me know what to get him for Easter.

His Easter basket was simple and included Peeps, a few plastic eggs and his little lawnmower.

I really liked having Easter later in the year even if it was still cold and wet at least the grass was green.

More Swimming!

We were able to go swimming with Wyatt and Charlie at a hotel in Sandy. It was a great time!

I love Emmett's face here and also love catching Wyatt about to fill his mouth up with water.

What a cute face! This little boy is as sweet as this face.

Don't mind Charlie, he's just chillin' out relaxin' Jared had taken these two earlier to check out the pool so Wyatt remembered exactly where to go when it was time to swim. I love this video of these two. They are going to have a lot of fun together this summer.

Conference Weekend

For Conference Weekend we decided to stay Friday night in Salt Lake then go to Temple Square Saturday and listen to conference.

We ate at Blue Lemon (yummy) then walked back to the hotel. Here's Emmett checking out the light coming out of the sidewalk.

He was of course WAY excited to get in the pool.

I've decided if you are going to hold Emmett in the pool then you have to learn how to pull faces like Jared does :)

Saturday we went to breakfast at our usual place (Little America buffet) then went back to the hotel so Emmett could nap while I got ready.

The weather was great! It didn't rain until we had left.

I wanted to jump in this mini pool too.

Now he's upset because his daddy made him get out.

By the time we drove home he was all tuckered out.

Cold March happenings

Jared has been gone a lot this month but here are some fun things I've captured.

Our house has FINALLY begun!

Emmett discovered how much fun toilet paper is. Jared and I were in our room and thought he was playing in our drawers in the bathroom which he does a lot but we found the whole roll of TP undone. Half on the ground and half in the tub. It made me laugh.

Emmett loves his daddy. He fakes asleep then Emmett hits him on the shoulder then Jared tackles him and he loves it.

I have 7 flowers on my African Violet and it is so pretty.

Emmett is 17 months today and here is what I caught him doing just barely. He was playing with my spray bottles and putting the lids on them. Then he brought some into my room.

and a super cute grin afterward. He cracks me up a lot but has started having tantrums and will sit down then slowly lay back but hit his head on the tile on purpose then start crying even louder. If you ignore him he'll bonk his head on the floor again. I try to keep him on the carpet when he does this but he just finds something else to bonk his head on. It's kind of funny and I want to get it on video but hopefully he gets over this.

Jared has been wanting to shave Emmett's head since he was born but I managed to hold him off until March 12, 2011.

I never thought I would be the type to grow attached to my child's baby hair but I did and I was sad to see it go but it is much easier to handle now.

I'm really bummed I didn't get a "before" picture.

He's not taking his eyes off the noisy thing daddy has in his hands.

and he hated every second of it.

15 months

In the mornings he has enjoyed watching toy story on my bed. He laughs at all the same parts which usually involve buster.

He loves getting into everything and has been caught playing in the toilet a few times. He jabbers a lot while pointing with his finger. Some things he says that I understand are "uh oh" "nana" (for banana or just says it when he's hungry) "mama" "dad" sometimes I think it sounds like he says thank you.

Animal sounds now include the horse to go with his dog cat and cow. He has gotten really independent and has been sleeping really well at night! He would put himself down for a nap if he could get into his bed by himself I think. He makes me laugh all day long and will give kisses if you ask him. I can't believe how big he has gotten and how much I love this boy. Another thing about him is how much he loves to eat. He will clean his plate and want more. If you give him more and he doesn't want it it will end up on the floor. He is like a puppy and will come and beg if you have food in your hand.

He loves everyone and gives any stranger that talks to him a big grin and will wave at them.

That's all I can think of to put that I want to remember about him at this stage. I can't imagine him being any more fun or cute than he already is.

Florida 2011

Jared had 2 weeks in a row of training in Gainesville, FL so we thought it would be fun to turn it into a vacation. We went the weekend before he started training and stayed at his brother's house in Orlando. We were able to go to Disney World several times (thanks to Kevin & Amy!!!) I know Emmett won't remember this so I took LOTS of pictures and posted my favorites on here hoping to print this all off into a book someday.

Here we are on the ferry headed to Magic Kingdom. The wind took his breath away a little but I think he enjoyed the ride.

Let the Memories Begin

We got there during the 3:00 parade and had a really good spot for meeting Characters.

I wish I could've seen Emmett's face but I think that would've been tricky.

Jared wanted to start him out on Pirate's and he did really good but got scared when we got splashed with some water.

Jared waited in line to take Emmett on Dumbo so we hung out and took pictures.

At the end of the day we met Mickey and Minnie but he was soooo tired I think he was confused.

At least he didn't cry.

We started heading back to the car and he was fast asleep.

We went to Downtown Disney one evening and ate some Ghirardelli Ice cream!

Emmett LOVED it. He shared my hot fudge sundae with bananas.

The next day we drove 2 hours to Gainesville. Gator territory. After dinner one night we walked around the mall.
On campus they have these bat houses and every evening they all fly out. TONS of bats come flying out the bottom all at once and into the sky to eat all the bugs. It is a really neat sight!

Every weekend we would head back to Orlando and next we went to Animal Kingdom. Here we are on the jungle cruise.

They have a fun petting Zoo that Emmett loved! It was a really hot day and I only had warm pants for Emmett so I took them off and let him show off his cute chubby legs. To go along with his bare legs his onesie said "Get in Line Girls"

Wish we could've brought this lamb home with us. He really liked Emmett.

Animal Kingdom closes early so we went to magic kingdom and got to watch Jared go on the tea cups by himself. He apparently went really fast.

Epcot was a fun day. He met Chip n Dale and loved them. I think he thought the nose was a ball.

He enjoyed walking around Asia and......

....pushing his stroller. We ate the yummy funnel cake here but didn't get a picture.

Here's epcot's character spot. The wait wasn't too long and we got to meet a lot of characters all at once. He was getting tired at this point so he was a little grumpy.

He was scared of pluto for some reason. He normally loves pluto since he's a dog.

Our second week in Gainesville we stayed in a different hotel and it had a sport court so on warm days Emmett loved running around in it while we waited for daddy to get done with work.

Our last time at Disney we went to Hollywood studios and weren't able to do much with a baby but he loved this play area.

He didn't so much like sitting on Auntie.

After a short visit at Hollywood Studios we went to Disney's Boardwalk. It was really chilly that day.

We decided to eat here so Jared got a hotdog and I got a delicious corndog. The seagulls were all over so while Jared was away I had covered his food and was holding onto the remainder of my corndog when a seagull or 2 swooped down and managed to quickly slide the corndog off my stick out onto the cement where it disappeared. I could not believe how brave/desperate they were. I thought I was being careful but apparently they were more hungry than me.

The ship in the background is an awesome water park for the hotel there.

Emmett was digging in the sand and eventually had to taste it.

YUCK!

The next day we hung out with Kevin and Amy and watched the movie Catfish. Our flight left sooooooo early the next day. We had such a fun time and I think it's funny that after we left every day was 80 degrees in Orlando. I guess we were lucky to get at least a few warm days. Now I'm ready for spring to arrive here!

When Emmett is doing something that requires concentration it helps if he opens his mouth really wide.

Here he was working on pulling a wipe out & stuffing it back in. I think it's so cute.

When I'm sitting down he'll bring an open book to me & give me his cute "I want something face" until I put him on my lap.

Christmas Eve we headed to snowy Paris.

Jared had to leave on my actual birthday so he planned something fun for us. He had a free hotel stay so we stayed in Salt Lake on the 26th and that night went to see the lights at Temple Square then ate at The Roof. Yes we had Emmett which was a lot of fun and he was such a good boy even in the cold.

This boy has liked books for quite awhile. He especially loves when they have flaps to open and will pretend to read by saying ma ma ma ma. It is the cutest thing ever.

This was at Andrea's before Christmas, my mom, Andrea, and I were looking at a Christmas catalog and talking about stuff then we heard him jibbering and looked over to see him reading his own magazine. so cute

Jared & I were in the other room and thought my parents were with Emmett because he was jibbering for so long then came to find him by himself "reading."

That's my little bookworm, hope this continues because he has a lot of books to get through.

13 Months

It's hard to imagine loving this boy more & more each day but somehow I manage to. He keeps surprising us with the things he learns. He's starting to copy what we say and is getting really good at "uh oh" & "what." Each week I have to update Jared on the new things he is doing.

My darling cousin took these pictures for me while we were in Rexburg.....and she was 40 weeks pregnant. There were too many good ones to choose from so I posted a lot & had to leave out the many others I LOVE.

This is what he does when he's trying to tell you something or point to what he wants.

For the first several shots he just gave us a blank look and sat very still.

Birthday Boy

I can't believe my baby is 1! He is a fun little busy body & I'm lucky he's mine. He scoot crawls & likes to stand up any chance he gets, including during the middle of the night. He likes me to help him walk everywhere & LOVES exploring new things, going on walks in his stroller & dogs & cats.

His actual birthday was spent with just he & I since Jared didn't get home until late that night.

Now he's happy but with tears in his eyes.

His birthday party was the day after & happened to be the warmest day of the week. Jared grilled hamburgers & hot dogs.

In the middle of October we went to Hogle Zoo & a pumpkin patch with Casey, Melanie, Wyatt, & Charlie. It was a surprisingly hot day & we were a bit over dressed so Emmett got to hang out at the zoo with no pants. He liked the animals but really enjoyed holding on to the the fences & riding in his stroller. My pictures are in the wrong order & I can't move them.

The next day we relaxed then ate at our local (not-so-great) Family Tree Restuarant then went to the Red Barn for ice cream.

Week at Grandma & Grandpa C's

Last week E & I spent the week in Paris & with lots of help from my mom & Jared, completed a few fall projects. We had a lot of extra wood from our fence so Jared cut it up for me.

This boy also loves eating! Maybe thats why he's a chunk.

He also loves being in his stroller. A nice evening walk through the orchards.

Oregon

Emmett & I went with Jared to his training in Portland since it fell during our 6th anniversary. Jared had an earlier flight and my flight ended up getting delayed an extra hour so I got to hang out with this busy body. I was crazy to think he'd understand the idea of setting him on the changing pad was so he wouldn't touch the floor. oh well.

We played in the hotel room, went swimming, & went on a lot of walks while daddy was at work. Emmett got a lot of attention everywhere we went. People would always stop & talk to him & comment how happy he was. People don't typically do that in Utah so it was fun.

We headed to Seaside which is a beautiful little town on the coast.

I guess it is known as the last stop for Lewis & Clark.

It was very unique. I of course had to go & see this fat cat in the bookstore.

So many unique touches.

Our hotel was right on the beach so we went for a walk in the evening & in the morning. Both were quite cold & windy.

Another fun touch!

Next we went to Cannon Beach & saw Haystack Rock.

Jared just had to eat here. We shared fish & chips & a cup of clam chowder.

Next stop was the Tillamook cheese factory. We took a tour then each tried 3 flavors of ice cream.

No this isn't mom's old kitchen table. It's the wall in the elevator :)

Squeaky cheese all for me. Jared thinks it's nasty.

We headed back to Portland & stayed there the rest of the time.

Multnomah Falls

We didn't get to hike to the top but it was still a pretty site.

Emmett was asleep until we were ready to leave so we headed back so he could see the waterfall.

The train was right next to us & was so loud as it went by but not even that woke up the sleepy boy.

Pittock Mansion. We got there too late to do the tour so we just looked through the windows.

Next we went on a bike ride along the waterfront in Portland. Emmett did not like it.

So he fell asleep.

We had a great time & had good weather. Jared got a cold the first day there which was a bummer, but othere than that we had a lot of fun!

San Diego & Oceanside

We started August by going with Jared to his training in Oceanside, CA.

Megan was able to join us too!

Isn't she cute? We had to leave really early Sunday morning & for some reason my hair dryer would NOT work so I had a nasty wet little ponytail but Megan's beauty made up for me.

Too bad this was what the Temple looked like while we were there.

This ship was grounded by our hotel.

PetCo field looked beautiful. We were sad we weren't able to go to a game there.

A ship that would've been fun to tour.

We chose to tour the U.S.S. Midway. An aircraft carrier that is now used as a museum for the public.

We wore head phones that would tell us what we were looking at. Here is where the men slept. I can't remember details but it was a lot of men in a crowded area with no privacy. I could not have lived on this ship.

This statue was huge & it is from Alfred Eisenstaedt's black-and-white photograph of an unidentified sailor kissing a nurse in 1945. It became an iconic photo marking the end of WWII.

Here's our first day in Oceanside. Meg & I decided to walk to the beach & it was quite the experience even though it wasn't too long of a walk.

We ate some yummy fish & chips at this harbor & sat next to a really nice family.

We were playing in the water & stopped paying attention & got hit with a wave. Jared says that's what happens when you turn your back to the ocean.

Road Trip

The end of June we got in a jam packed SUV with Jared's mom & headed to Boise for the night. We stayed in our FAVORITE hotel (Ameritel Inn) and got to take Emmett swimming before getting back in the car to make our next stop in Walla Walla, WA for the crazy Rose reunion & to celebrate Grandma Rose's 90th birthday!

The actual pool at the campground was FREEZING so Emmett got to sit in the warm kiddy pool.

The Rose reunion happens every year at a place called Camp Kiwanis in Walla Walla. This year there were a TON of people & we had a lot of fun.

They always have a bunch of activities planned & one of them is you get to build any size/type of boat & then we have a race down the river. Emmett's won 2nd place in his division. It's a pretty big deal.

They only send about 5 or so at a time. The water was sooo cold.

I love this boy

If you don't know where Jared gets his craziness from, you learn quickly after spending a weekend with the Rose clan. Here is the Morris gang minus Amy & the kiddos, Matt, London, & Erika.

To celebrate Grandma's 90th, Pat did a "Queen for a day" party. I think it was a tv show or something back in the day.......not sure.

Emmett did great his first time camping. Uncle Roger let us borrow his 3 room tent & his blowup mattress & stand. It was GREAT!! Even though Emmett's hands would be ice cold he seemed to sleep well.

We also got to celebrate Grandma Morris's 90th birthday. She loved Emmett, I'm glad she got to meet him.

Her house is in a beautiful location in Black Diamond, WA on Lake Sawyer.

We had a fun busy time. Later that night we went back to the house at Tapps & watched the fireworks around the lake. It's like a constant grand finale all around the lake for hours. Next year Emmett will be able to stay up & watch but this year he was sleeping peacefully.

ONCE again pictures are out of order....so just go with it.

We were able to go to CA with the McGivens & see San Francisco, Pebble Beach, & the U.S. Open in person!

We stayed the night at their house since we had an early flight to catch. We Spent the whole day in San Francisco then headed to "Grandma's" for some sleep!

The cute boys did so great. Here we are after a LONG day headed to the house on Pebble Beach Golf Course.

Emmett's first plane ride went GREAT! The flight was really empty so he slept in the middle seat the whole way......lucky boy.

We went to the Giants vs. Orioles baseball game! Emmett fell asleep on the long walk back to the car. Thank goodness for dads.

Last weekend was the St. George Tri and the weather was nice so they were actually able to swim. We had a great time hanging out with friends & watching the kids play together. I'm sad I didn't get a picture of all the kids together.

Yesterday was Emmett's first Easter egg hunt. Too bad it was so darn cold!

When I fix my hair I put Emmett on the bed & always find him watching me. Then he gives me his cute smile. I love this boy.

He is so good at taking baths.

So I left my baby with his dad & went on my annual work trip to San Antonio. When I got back this was waiting for me ☺ My boys did great together were able to bond.

Last weekend we went to the cabin with some friends. Once again it was fun, relaxing, & beautiful. Saturday the clouds kept creeping up on us then going away.

Right here I felt like we were in an airplane.

I thought the caribou's shadow looked pretty great.

Emmett's growing up so quickly. He loves eating his hands & is constantly gagging himself.

Lucy ♥ aka Goose

This post is mostly for Jared & me. We had to make the tough decision yesterday to have our dear Lucy cat put to sleep. I think we have both been crying ever since. We talked about all the things we already miss about her & the list is very long. She was a very important part of our home & her absence is very noticeable. She was my shadow that was always there to keep me company & I miss her more than I ever thought possible. I have so many pictures of her & have only picked out a few to put on here. I really hope to be with her again someday.

The picture above is one of my favorites. I had just taken the sheets out of the dryer & set them on the bed. Not long after I found her like this. Quite the little stinker.

My boys are getting older

Jared celebrated his 29th birthday. We celebrated with his family then celebrated the New Year with friends.

Emmett is 2 months & had his vaccinations. He did so good!

Here are the results

11.46 lb = 45.67 percentile

23.5 in = 73.07 percentile

We took him to Sacrament meeting since we knew he'd just sleep in his car seat. Too bad nobody got to see his cute outfit thanks to Aunt A :)

Week in Paris

I was able to spend the week before Thanksgiving at my parent's house. It was nice to have a change of scenery & the extra help so I could rest.

We got our tree pretty easily this year. It didn't take long & it looks great in our home, now it needs to be decorated.
